Julie Purpura knows where to find a story, but more importantly, she always knows how to tell a good one. Julie founded Avenir in 2016 with her chin twisted up at the future, with its name being a direct translation from French of a time to come. All good stories, like interior design, are enclosed in a fundamental truth, and for Julie, that was to propel spaces into their own futures through designs rooted in its history and community.
At Avenir, stepping into the future means acknowledging where a space comes from, marrying its past with its potential. With this in mind, Julie created the Chicago-based interior design firm with an undertaking of not only producing smart and unique designs but also defining what is simply cool. Although broad in concept, Avenir’s cool factor heralds from its designers' deep comfort in authenticity and human connection, aesthetic prowess, and pure belief in the projects they do.
Julie set out to develop a space where designers could not only feel comradery with one another, but a genuine connection with their designs.
